This installment refines the original's formula with new mechanics like a "Wheelhouse" for batters, allowing them to hit more powerfully from a specific zone, and "Big Slam" for an explosive grand slam. The game also introduces a unique "Become a Legend" career mode, where you create a player recovering from an injury in the Mexican League and work your way up to the MLB, taking on legendary players to earn a spot in the Hall of Fame.
