MAG (PS3, 2010) was a groundbreaking online shooter that pushed the PS3's limits with 256-player battles, where teamwork and large-scale strategy defined the chaos. Playing as mercenaries across three factions, you fought in persistent global wars, with matches spanning massive maps for vehicle assaults, base captures, and squad-based objectives. While its learning curve and reliance on communication could be daunting, few games since have matched its ambition for all-out warfare. A cult classic that proved console shooters could think big—before servers shut down in 2014.
