Resistance 3 (PS3, 2011) is a return to horror roots, ditching R2’s spectacle for a grim road trip across a Chimera-ravaged America. As Joseph Capelli, you scavenge improvised weapons (like the Mutator that turns foes into bio-bombs) and fight through claustrophobic set-pieces (a shuddering train, a flooded prison). Its offline co-op, immersive HUD-less design, and bleak tone make it the series’ underrated swan song—though the dead multiplayer (RIP 60-player chaos) stings.
