Killzone 2

Killzone 2 (PS3, 2009) is a visceral FPS that pushed the PS3’s limits with its gritty, weighty combat and oppressive Helghan atmosphere. As ISA soldier Sev, you battle the fascist Helghast in brutal, cover-heavy firefights where every bullet feels impactful—thanks to realistic recoil and the best enemy AI of its era. Its multiplayer (warzone modes, clan support) was ahead of its time, though the campaign’s murky color palette and linear design drew some ire. A technical showpiece that still holds up as Sony’s answer to Call of Duty.
