Dead Space 2

Dead Space 2 (PS3/Xbox 360/PC, 2011) is a masterclass in survival-horror, refining the original’s formula with tighter combat, a haunting Sprawl setting (a ruined space station), and Isaac Clarke’s newfound voice (and PTSD). Dismembering Necromorphs feels even more visceral with new tools (like the Javelin Gun), while set-pieces (the eye surgery scene) and psychological horror (Isaac’s dead girlfriend hallucinations) ratchet up the dread. A near-perfect blend of action and terror—until the polarizing final act.
