Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht (PS2, 2002) is a sci-fi JRPG epic from Xenogears’ creators, diving into a galaxy-spanning saga of androids, ancient relics, and existential dread. As amnesiac android KOS-MOS and her crew, you’ll battle Gnosis aliens in turn-based mech/human combat, unravel dense Nietzschean lore, and sit through hour-long cutscenes (bless the skip button). Its stunning soundtrack and ambitious storytelling set a high bar, though sluggish pacing and convoluted menus test patience. A love-it-or-hate-it cult classic.
