Description
Dragon Warrior on the NES, known in Japan as Dragon Quest, is a classic turn-based Japanese role-playing game that casts you as a legendary hero, a descendant of Erdrick, on a quest to rescue Princess Gwaelin and retrieve the stolen Ball of Light from the evil Dragonlord, thus saving the kingdom of Alefgard. Gameplay involves exploring a top-down world map, engaging in first-person perspective turn-based battles against monsters to gain experience and gold, purchasing better equipment, and talking to townsfolk for clues and to advance the simple yet engaging narrative. Released in North America in August 1989, Dragon Warrior laid the foundation for the console JRPG genre, despite its relatively slow pace and emphasis on grinding.
