Hexen

Hexen on the Nintendo 64 is a port of the dark fantasy first-person shooter, offering a similar experience to its PC counterpart but with some N64-specific adjustments. Players choose one of three character classes – fighter, cleric, or mage – each with unique weapons and abilities, as they navigate the world of Cronos to battle demonic forces and solve environmental puzzles within interconnected hub levels. While retaining the core gameplay and atmosphere of the original, the N64 version boasts improved graphics and a smoother frame rate compared to other console ports, and uniquely features four-player split-screen cooperative and deathmatch modes. However, it also faced criticism for its control scheme, occasional graphical glitches, and the large amount of Controller Pak memory required for saving.
