Dead Space 3 (PS3/Xbox 360/PC, 2013) is a divisive shift for the series, trading claustrophobic horror for co-op action and crafting-heavy combat. Isaac Clarke battles Necromorphs across frozen planets and derelict ships, now with weapon customization (build a plasma cutter-shotgun hybrid) and human enemies (the Unitologists). While the snowbound set-pieces and co-op banter (John Carver’s story shines here) add variety, the diluted scares and microtransaction-laced crafting drew fan backlash. A fun-but-flawed finale that’s best with a buddy.
