Defiance is an ambitious, post-apocalyptic massively multiplayer online third-person shooter (MMOTPS) set in the desolate, terraformed San Francisco Bay Area, serving as a dynamic companion to the Syfy television series of the same name. You step into the boots of an Ark Hunter, a mercenary with a powerful neuro-muscular implant (EGO) searching for valuable alien technology—Ark Tech—that rains down from orbit following the devastating Pale Wars between humans and the alien Votanis Collective. Blending the core mechanics of a third-person shooter with the scale and persistence of an MMO, you’ll engage in constant combat against alien horrors and ruthless raiders, taking part in massive, unpredictable co-op events called Arkfalls alongside dozens of other players for the chance to earn powerful, unique loot and advance the story in a sprawling, open-world environment.
