Developed by Yuke’s, the creators of the SmackDown! series, the game features a streamlined, easy-to-pick-up control scheme that favors fast-paced striking and throws over deep simulation, making it ideal for four-player party action and focusing heavily on the fun, unpredictable nature of the Royal Rumble. While it features impressive wrestler models and a faithful visual recreation of top Attitude Era superstars like The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, the package is admittedly light on content, offering only the Rumble and a simple exhibition mode with a very limited roster and a bizarre partner interference mechanic, making it feel more like a fun arcade blast than a deep console wrestling experience.
